Mumbai: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra shoot up to 97 on Monday, with eight new cases detected overnight.
Maharastra has the highest number of positive coronavirus cases in the country.
Despite the lockdown throughout the Maharastra, People are on the streets. In view of this, curfew has been imposed in the whole of Maharashtra. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that despite the lockdown, people are taking this lightly and are roaming on the streets.
Uddhav Thackeray said, ‘On Sunday we have closed the borders of the state, now we are also closing the borders of the districts. We will try as much as we can to prevent the spread of corona in those districts which are still unaffected. He further added that essential needs like grocery, milk, bakery, pharmacies will remain open despite the lockdown.
As of now, three people have died in Maharashtra due to Coronavirus. A 68-year-old man from the Philippines who recently recovered from Coronavirus died in a hospital in Mumbai. This is the third death in Maharashtra related to COVID-19.
The total positive cases of coronavirus in the country climbed to 433 on Monday and total deaths rose to 8.
