COVID-19: Himachal Pradesh announced a indefinite statewide curfew

Himachal Pradesh government announced a statewide curfew to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on March 24. Earlier the state was under complete lockdown. However, people were not taking it seriously so an indefinite curfew has been imposed in the state, according to reports.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur said the statewide curfew will come into force in all the 12 districts of the stateC at 5 pm on Tuesday.

Kangra is the only district in the whole state where three positive cases of coronavirus have been detected and a man in his 69 died of COVID-19. Other districts like Una and Mandi haven’t reported any cases so far.

Deputy Commissioner of Una, Sandeep Kumar said that the statewide curfew came into force at 1 pm. A 69-year-old man died due to coronavirus in Kangra on Tuesday had taken lunch in a restaurant in Una on March 21. The restaurant staff has been quarantined, he added.

In India, more than 511 positive coronavirus cases have been detected until now including 10 deaths. More than 35 people have recovered from the virus so far.

WHO declared the coronavirus as a pandemic. There are more than 3,92,000 cases of virus across the globe including over 17,100 deaths. The virus first started in Wuhan China and has spread in more than 175 countries throughout the globe. Italy is the worst affected with more than 6,000 deaths.
